School Visits

The exhibits at Bressingham provide a great educational backdrop for many periods and subjects including:

- The History of Steam Power and the first railways as well as the Industrial Revolution,

- The Science of Mechanical Steam Power,

- The Cultural Impact of Steam Power,

- 1940's Britain including life at the height of the Battle of Britain, and the Home Guard,

With twenty acres of gardens and green space as well as the awe-inspiring power of Steam; Bressingham boasts a plethora of learning opportunities to engage and inspire young minds. From our indoor re-creation of a 1940’s street, complete with air raid bunker and sweet shop, to Victorian Gallopers, working steam engines and a wide range of rolling stock, there is vast potential for allowing students to engage with National Curriculum themes in an immersive environment.

If it is an extra-curricular trip you are after, Bressingham can offer a day out riding the narrow gauge trains, Gallopers and enjoying the the gardens. With plenty of indoor and outdoor activities as well as covered picnic areas Bressingham is well suited to school groups no matter the weather. Bressingham is on the Norfolk / Suffolk border just a few miles away from Diss and is easy to get to from both the A11 and the A140, with plenty of free coach parking.
