The 2022 Bressingham Steam Gala

A gala event with visiting traction engines and narrow gauge railway locomotives

A full steam gala weekend. Updated 26.4.22.

Joined by guest 2ft narrow gauge locomotives and traction engines.

We are pleased to confirm former Penrhyn Quarry locomotive Avonside 0-4-0T (Works No. 2066) "Ogwen" will be joining us for this weekend.

Also joining us will be Kerr Stuart 'Wren' class 0-4-0ST (Works No. 3128)  "Roger". Built in 1918, she originally worked for The National Smelting Co. at Avonmouth.

We will also be joined by traction engines from private owners, both full size and miniatures.

The museum will be hauling out 'Bunty' one of our own traction engines for outside display from inside the main exhibition hall.

Rundown of the Event itinery:

Saturday 30th April: 

Day 1 of the Gala: Steam locomotives running on the 2ft railway (which includes visiting engines and double heading). The Garden Railway and the Waveney Railway will be running. The museum will run as much of its own collection as possible. Visiting Traction engines both full size and Minaiture will be in steam. There will be no standard Gauge steam running on the Saturday.

Sunday 1st May: 

Day 2 of the Gala: Steam locomotives on the 2ft Fen Railway running passenger and freight services (including double heading). The Garden Railway and Waveney Railway will be running. Martello will be hauling the Brake Van providing passenger rides on the Standard Gauge Railway. The museum will run as much of its own collection as possible. Visiting Traction engines both full size and Minaiture will be in steam. 

Monday 2nd May: 

Day 3 of the Gala: Steam locomotives on the 2ft Fen Railway running passenger and freight services (including double heading). The Garden Railway and Waveney Railway will be running. Bressingham's Terrier locomotive 'Martello' will be hauling the Brake Van providing passenger rides on the Standard Gauge Railway. The museum will run as much of its own collection as possible. Visiting Traction engines both full size and Minaiture will be in steam.

- Youngs Portable engine. Built 1908, and thrashing machine.

- Marshall  (83780). "Monty". Reg. No. VF4183. General purpose engine, built 1928.

- Aveling & Porter (8837). "George". Reg. No. NO1221. Road roller, built 1917. Along with Aveling & Porter living van, built in 1922.

- Burrell (3833). "Queen Mary". Reg. BR1498. Showmans Road Locomotive, built 1920.

- Burrell (3420), "The Duchess". Reg. No. AH5607. Built 1912.
