Autumn 2018 Steam Rally's and Heritage EventsNext Post
After a sweltering summer lets hope for a mild Autumn to enjoy this the current crop of 2018 Steam Rallys happening up and down the country.
We’ve taken a little look at some of the best Steam and Vehicle shows scheduled in 2018 both locally in Norfolk and Suffolk, and further afield!
Norfolk & Suffolk Steam & Vintage Vehicle shows
September and October are a great time to get out and enjoy the sights, sounds (and smells!) of a Steam rally and events, and there are plenty to choose from in Norfolk and Suffolk.
If you get your skates (presumably steam powered) on you can attend the Grand Henham Steam Rally taking place on the 15th and 16th of September.
Not only will you be able to see hundreds of steam vehicles, vintage cars and motorcycles and tractors, but also there’ll be live music, craft and trade stalls and dog agility demonstrations.
Here at Bressingham on Sunday September 23rd you can enjoy A wide variety of vintage agricultural machinery and tractors at our Vintage/Bygone Rally featuring a visit by the Showman's Engine 'Queen Mary' from Thetford's Charles Burrell Museum and Martello, our recently restored Terrier Tank engine running for testing on the Standard Gauge Railway!
Miniature & Model railway events
If model engines are your thing there are a few events to choose from (which often also have the added advantage of being indoors, sheltered from possibly inclement weather)…
Unfortunately you’ve already missed Bure Valley Railway’s Steam in Miniature event that took place on September 8th and 9th in Aylsham, but put it in your diary for next year.
Fear not however, there’s still the Strumpshaw Model & Miniature Show taking place on Saturday September 22nd featuring model trains, planes, cars as well as featuring exhibits by the Meccano club of Great Britain.
How to find Steam events near you
If you’re not lucky enough to be within easy distance of any of those events we’ve found some great resources to look for Steam rallys and vintage vehicle events in the UK.
A more extensive list of Vintage and Heritage events can be found on steamheritage.co.uk. You can search for events by location, date and type of event - there’s even categories for Organs and Autojumbles (whatever they are!)
Are there any local places or events you think we should know about?
If you’ve particularly enjoyed any places or events in Norfolk or Suffolk let us know.
We always like hearing about other local attractions!
